New Cast Iron reference book
« on: January 31, 2014, 05:36:41 PM »
I just discovered a brand new reference book for older (1645-1900) cast iron and hollowware. I haven't ordered it. I was wondering if anyone thought it might be worth it.

Looks like it was published in January 2014.  I'm curious about it also.  We have a Barnes & Noble here so I may go looking for it tomorrow.

As far as I know there was a delay and it is not available yet.

Internet chatter has been that orders directly from Schiffer Publishing are being filled.  Ever heard of the Author?
According to the bio on Publishers site, he worked right here in Harrisburg, at the State Museum.  And lives in Larry & Sue's town.

The author lives close to Larry & Sue. Larry talked with him about 5 months ago. We tried to get him to join WAGS and come to give a workshop, but he said he wasn't ready, he was still working on the book at that time. Delivery has been delayed as Tom mentioned. He is going to visit Larry & Sue to see them.

Neil, my purchase is still showing as processing, but given it is pre-order, it will probably continue to state that.

The expected ship date is 2/28, and my order shows it will be delivered March 4.

I checked my credit card, and that amount is showing as a hold....

So I assume good to go, unless notified otherwise.

I received my "Early American Cast Iron Hollowware" book today from Barnes & Noble on line.  It is completely different from the Blue Book & Red Book, it focuses on pre-Wagner & Griswold pieces, it doesn't contain prices and it really more of a history book than a collector's guide (but since none of us are collectors why would we need another collector's reference book?. :o
