Griswold DO
« on: December 25, 2016, 06:22:22 PM »
Merry Christmas to all!! I picked up a Griswold Eerie #8 DO recently (see pic). The lid is unmarked on top but on the underside has a number 8 along with 2551 A as well as another number that is hard to read but I believe to be A435C. Could this lid be original to the DO? I know the forum has a tremendous amount of knowledge and I appreciate any help.

I would think that the correct lid for that slant logo DO would have the Griswold mark on the underside , So in my opinion I do not think it is the correct lid

Mike Howdy, welcome too WAGS. This is the correct cover for your slant erie DO. I have the same #8 with that cover.
Valerie, someone will correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that the covers changed when the bottom mark became slant e.p.u.

Thanks Valerie and John for your responses. I thought I had read at one time that some of the early lids did not have a logo. Again very much appreciate the help.

Absolutely a match.  I have a 6 that has a slant/ERIE logo and only the p/n and size on the underside of the lid, and I've seen other sizes that were the same.
