New Addition to Camp Oven Spiders
« on: August 09, 2016, 09:44:24 PM »
Saw this listed on Craig's List the other day, picked it up this afternoon and just washed it with Dawn and wiped it down with Pam, ready to cook in Thursday morning for Elaine's Quilt group.
It is a < 10 inch N. Patterson & Cincinnati >, almost in like new condition.

Hello Tom. It's good to see you get that piece because we know how you love camp ovens and you know how to use them. So that nice old piece has found a good home. Congratulations and thank you for sharing it with us.

While talking with the man I got it from, he got it from his grandfather who had been a cattle rancher in California.  He sold it because he no longer had a use for it, but still has a #12 just like it that he does use and is in the same condition.
I gave him my made from scratch recipe for cobbler and $35.00 and we both were very happy.
This makes 6 spiders now, 1 Lodge, 3 Martins, 1 unknown that I cook in regularly.

What a great old set... and looks like it's been well taken care of over the years.

Thanks for sharing Tom.

That is AWSOME Tom!   [smiley=drool1.gif] I try not to envy others for their fantastic deals found in the wild, but it sure isn't easy when you see something like this!   ::)

Not only a cool and unique piece but the condition and the history!!!

Soooo...  What's fer dinner? ;)

Here you go Larry, not exactly dinner but Elaine wanted a desert for her Quilt Group this morning.  The peaches are fresh Colorado Palisade Peaches from the Western Slope, got carried away and put a few too many in and the batter did not set up correctly, ended up being more of a peach pudding, but still tasted nice and sweet.  Not too bad for a spider being somewhere around 170 years old.
