I picked up a nice old number 6 gate marked skilled with no name or identifying marks on it, Nice little skillet, very smooth, has some pitting on the bottom from use and some imperfection but still a nice skillet, Is very thin walled and very light.
Photos below
Anyone have any ideas on maker or is this just one of those we'll never know pieces

Hello Valerie. I have no clue about the maker. But I like that little skillet too. I think it's pretty neat with that one big pour spout. I'll bet it's really old too. Just think of all the good food that has come out of that. Maybe some young couple got that as a wedding present. I'd say it's old enough to have traveled by a wagon train even. If it could talk I'd sure sit up and listen. I'll bet many a big lie has been told around that piece, everybody full and pushing back from the table and chewin the fat for awhile. What do you think Valerie? Are you with me on this?  :)

Yes Perry I am with you, There is so much history in these pieces and I am so happy I was able to rescue this one and put it back into service. Just think...Many many years ago someone made this nice old skillet and it is still around today and works just as good as the day it was made...Not many things in life can have that said about them...well...cept You and Me Perry...we are still ticking like a good old Timex watch :D

I agree Valerie...  That is a nice little skillet you have there!  [smiley=drool1.gif] I have gravitated to the older pieces myself and as Perry mentioned, If only they could talk.
