Hi there,
I'm new to this site and in my welcome message I mentioned some of the cast iron I collect and some of it is NAFCO, made right here in Newfoundland, Canada. It was located in the capital city, St. John's. The NAFCO foundry was known for pot belly wood stoves, iron fencing, and machinery. THere isn't much history or info online. However, it did make cookware at one point. Ive been told the foundry closed down in the 1950's.
I have attached photos of a couple of my pieces. It is very hard to find, even here. I have many pots with lids of multiple sizes as well as one lonely size 10 skillet, which I love and use every day. It was rusted and cruddy when I found it, pushed under a hutch on a dirty concrete floor of an old church turned antique store in a place called Portugal Cove. I cleaned it up and gave it much needed love and now we use it every day. I hope to find more in the future. Has anyone here ever heard of NAFCO, or have any in their collections?
The files are too big to post here, so I have put a link to view it in Dropbox. I hope this isn't inconvenient.
