ID large skillet please
« on: August 28, 2015, 07:48:23 PM »
Hi all. I know it isn't anything special but would like to know what it is and the vintage if possible. It was part of a 13 skillet griddle purchase. Got some nice well marked wagners never used and some good Canadian iron. The large ones are hard to come by up this way so what the heck. Wow that second pic looks goofy. Sorry

Can you add a close up of the underside of the handle

Yes I can and thank you. Reposting the goofy pic see if it works. I did notice if u click on the words the pic opens properly. Also, absolutely no I'd marks anywhere, not even a number.

I would say it is an Asian copy of a modern Lodge skillet. I have seen Lodge's skillet handled-style wok being sold under the name Texsport. That wok is totally unmarked, but looks just like the Lodge. The skillet here is probably the same. Seems more Asian manufacturers are using stickers and paper labels nowadays to mark their products.

The guy I bought it from is an old timer, said he's had it for a while. The cooking surface seems way to smooth to be Chinese. I'm new but I have seen a lot of Chinese crap and not 1 has had the smooth finish like the old ones. When I get it cleaned up I'll put some better pics up. Thanks for your help and I really hope you are wrong lol

As old as that old timer is, that style of handle wasn't put on skillets until the 1980's.
I just bought a square handled BSR Sportsman fish fryer from an old timer, but that didn't stop him from trying to sell me his Lodge current logo 10SK to me!
