More Restored Iron!

Skillet Griddle.....

I really need to stop buying these.... they are driving my perfectionistic personality bonkers!

Every one, (including the breakfast skillet), has been a bear to clean, with different colors in the iron running throughout (marbleing), and excessive carbon shedding.  I am wondering at the time frames and iron mixture used to cast these, as it seems to be a common theme... :)

If I EVER decide to clean and season any more of these monsters for friends... someone needs to just wrap me up in duct tape and say NO!  ;D

Tony Richerson, this 3060 turned out like new....

(but only after I fought with it for months to remove the rusted thru original Lodge preseasoning.....  that stuff is bullet proof, except for rust.... >:( )

The original bottom that the lid came on turned out to be a bit of a hot mess... but the outside is lovely....

Cheryl, that's not pitting, that's the famous 'textured surface' that some ebay sellers refer to ;=)

But overall, they all cleaned up nice :=)

That's a nice looking pan.  They are usually beat up a little on the bottom.  Now you need the rare one - the one without pattern number.  I think I've seen 3 of them (2 are mine 8-) ).

Cheryl, you should really do a seminar on restoration at a convention.  Or at least an article in Casting Call.  The result of your efforts is incredible. 8-)

Thank you Jim... but.... I just could NOT break the Lodge pre-seasoning on these pieces, especially the first pictured 3060 which appeared unused, although rusted.

I'm surprised I am not bald..... ::) ::)  Finally brought out some big guns to break the polymers....... lessons still being learned! ;)

Someday... I really would like to make it to a convention.... but in the interim, I will begin strapping on the Go Pro to start producing some How To's!  in living color.. at least that is my plan, just need to implement it!
