Loose wooden WI handles.
« on: August 31, 2014, 02:08:44 PM »
Recently picked up a #8 Gris with the 885 and 886 paddles and the 88 high base. The wooden handle are original, but so loose they fall right out. Has anyone ever figured out the best way to snug them back up? Gets too hot for reg tape. I have a roll of thin wooden veneer..maybe that, or is there a better way, thanks.  :)

Well if anyone is interested, I went ahead and wrapped the handle ends with the veneer edging. I used Gorilla glue and it took two thicknesses of the veneer strips to do it, but they came out great! Tight as a drum now... ;)

Creative solution, Mark.  Any chance you can post a photo?

Sure...not much to look at really, but you can get the idea. To clamp in place while the glue dried, I just tightly wound string  round and round the length of it.
