Cast aluminum oval roaster with steamer insert
« on: May 18, 2014, 06:59:42 PM »
I picked this up today seeing I collect aluminum.  but I have no clue as who made it.  It is not marked.  Anyone seen anything like this?

Thanks,

Will

Not sure about Super Maid.  They were pretty proud of their wares, marking most everything.  The drip rings look like theirs though.  Don't really see combination cookers from them though.

Might be Super Health from Toronto.  I don't have any so I can't comment about the markings or drip rings, but they do show several types of combination pots.

I have a old oval cast aluminum dutch oven that we use to boil corn on the cob.  We have had it for years and I think it came from the wife's grandfather.  It is exactly as yours but does not have the steamer tray.  The interesting thing is it has a faint picture of a ww 1 battleship on the bottom and the script shipmate or battleship.  The markings are so faint that they are almost impossible to see.  Probably from around 1910 or so.   David

You might be right Dave.

Like Chris said Dave, you could be right. Here's a picture of what they refer to as the Jumbo Roaster. Picture in group is lower right.

Edit to add: Battleship markings on some were very weak, barely visible on some pieces.

Tom, Will s having some trouble logging on so he wanted me to post for him :D. Now that he saw that pic of Battleship he thinks it could be them. Will take a closer look tonight to see if we can find any trace of a marking

I did find my Super Health Catalog and Recipe book.  They don't mention anything like this so Battleship might be the best bet.
