Neumarker German Electric Waffle Iron
« on: May 13, 2014, 09:21:40 AM »
Just sharing an item that I can never resist when I see them.  It's an electric waffle iron made in Germany sometime in the 1950's to 1960's.  700 watts, 110V.  The heating element is interesting in that it is a flat disk, no coils.  There are other makers too.  The prices are all over the place.  This one was $10, others are listed around $200.  Shipping is the killer.

I need to clean it up, just wanted to post some before pictures.   These work fantastically well and no teflon.

The plates are cast iron.  You can get the scale from my fingers.  It weighs just about 14 pounds!  That's right - 14 pounds.  Certainly wouldn't want to give any lip to someone that could handle this guy.  For comparison, a Griswold made, Andresen heart waffle weighs about 7 pounds with base (the equivalent of a Griswold #8).

Porcelain feet.  The cast iron is usually nickel or chrome plated.  I'll post some pictures when clean.

Very cool Tom, thanks for sharing that.
