New collector building a new collection!
« on: January 26, 2014, 08:07:09 PM »
My dad is a CI freak and got me into it. Love getting out and finding old pieces and starting my collection.

I've recently started and already have quite a few pieces. Some not so special, some pretty old ones, and some I have no clue yet. I thought it would be interesting to share my pieces as I acquire them and learn more about them that I have yet to learn.
I hope everyone enjoys my collection and all the pictures to come. :)

Thanks!  And feel free to comment anything about them that some of you veterans could share with a young buck lol

Thanks I got it now. I didn't see it earlier since I'm running mobile. But guess I was zoomed in too much. Oops.

This pan have a rough finish like a new Lodge? I know where one is for $20. Can't remember if it has a heat ring though.

I don't think so. Looks pretty smooth to me. It's been seasoned very well and is very dark. It doesn't look like it's hardly ever been used. Prolly the best looking skillet I have

Hello Brett. I got started collecting cast iron with some skillets that my mother gave me. Looking back, they were junky skillets as far as cast iron skillets go, but they got me started looking for others. I have been collecting now for over thirty years so have a few pieces. Of the pieces that you posted here I like the number three Wagner Scotch Bowl the best. Thats 'old school Wagner', when they were making some of the best cast iron in the world.

Lol I have a few more I haven't posted. They've been soaking in my lye bath. Not working to well with this cold weather I might add. Lol.
I've got a twin to the old griddle and a
#3 griswold big block logo
And an old wagner Sidney O #10
Still soaking. Kinda sad the old wagner is pretty rough.
