New display shelf in the Living Room
« on: April 06, 2014, 10:40:39 PM »
Found this at a local moving sale. Didn't take long to fill it. Lots of iron that needs a display home around here.

Hello Chuck. Looks like you are using that stand nicely too. I like that little stove at the top too, and of course the Parlor Stove on the left also. That sets that corner off. Thanks for sharing Chuck.  :)

Thank you Perry. Some fairly common pieces on the shelf, but a few of them were found by my Dad and I while visiting my parents in DE. (The 2 DO's). Sentimental value. You can't put a price tag on it.

while at a flea market yesterday, I saw a fellow selling knives in tabletop display cases.  lots of cases.  turns out he makes the cases and sells VERY reasonable.  gave him my contact info, got his number,  and gave size I would like to have.

I intend to display cast iron toys in it,  on top of an OLD wooden chest.  some of the toys (not my pricey ones) are now displayed on top of the chest in the living room.  I worry that the little boys who come here would pick up the "good" toys if they sat out in the open.  right now the good ones are  in a high up area in my office, where no one goes unless invited.   (where my "good" full size stuff is, also)

I have seen lots of table top display cases,  but none have been deep enough to accommodate the toy tea kettles,  because of the knob on top.   I have been looking long and hard for a deep one.   can't wait to get this one next month. :)

Nice Chuck. You could even hang a few skillet in the back if you wanted to.

Marge, you'll have to post a pic or two when it's done.  :)
