Doing some catch-up on the forum and it seems I am not reading some posts in the order they were first posted.  More comments on the fryer pans:

The twin waffle frame was used to hold two of the double sausage or corndog irons but could also hold one of the fryer pans.  Wagner would sell the twin waffle frame with two double corndog irons.  Wagner also would sell the Double Twin waffle frame (similiar to the Griswold No.14 hotel waffle iron) with two of the double corndog irons and one of the fryer pans.  As such it was Catalog#1430.

These irons are shown in several Wagner catalogs but I don't know who has the original catalogs.  A friend copied some catalogs years ago and wrote on them #34 1927 on one set of catalog sheets.  Right now my sheets are all mixed up and I have to re-shuffle them so I know what I have.  Anyway, the 1427 and 1430 combinations are "Restaurant Size" and the 1427 iron (square corndog iron like a square waffle iron is called a "Domestic Size".

Here is a quote from the #34 catalog of 1927:
"Cornbread and sausage have always been a famous combination.  With these Irons they can be baked together as a full ear of crusty cornbread with a sausage cob inside.  They are as easy and quick to bake as waffles.  Other combinations such as weiners in biscuits and sausage in waffles can be made in these irons.  The Kob pans fit the No. 1421 and 1422 Waffle Irons (twin and double twin frames).  In the above illustrated No.1430 Iron, the fryer pan may be replaced by two pair of Kob pans, if desired.   Each pair of pans bakes two Kobs 6-3/8" long and 1-1/2 inches in diameter.  Recipes are attached to every Iron."

I would guess that the fryer pans were used to fry the sausage or weiners which were they put in the Kob pans with batter and further cooked.

For the Domestic size irons:
"The Domestic Size Iron will bake four Krusty Korn Kobs, with or without a sausage filler, as easily as making waffles.  this is the most novel and delicious way of baking cornbread alone, or as a sandwich with sausage or weiners.  Recipes are furnished with every Iron."

All you need to complete a set is one twin waffle frame and two of the double Kob pans OR one double twin waffle frame with two of the double Kob pans plus one of the fryer pans.

well that explains the oil mystery, these are apparently for frying sausage or other naturally greasy meat, as opposed to frying in oil, which is what most of us were thinking.

I can see how they could therefore call it "fryer pan" and yet it was never intended to hold any oil, some types of sausage would fry up nice with practically no grease run-out even if flipped, but I am not sure flipping was ever intended any way.

it would seem that this is basically a sandwich toaster, but meant for sausage, and therefore called "fryer pan",
as "sausage toaster" would sound silly!

Steve, if you said all of this earlier I missed it, but thank you very much for your persistence. The information that you have provided is very interesting and solves all this mystery. We was going real good on this til you came out and shut us down. Now that we got this mystery solved Julie Gadgets, guess who has got one of the Wagner frames in the double waffle iron that Steve is talking about? Me, so I see very easily how it works. That is not like a manufacturer to do something like this. Usually they make you buy a whole bunch of stuff that only works with this and this only works with that. Look at all the cast iron lid variations. Its the same thing with auto parts, GM, Ford, Chrysler, etc.
