No. 10 muffin pan with gate mark

I recently spotted an old muffin pan that has the same cup configuration as the Griswold No. 10, but there was a gate mark on the bottom across the middle row of cups.  The handles were a little different, but No. 10 was cast into one of them.  There were no other markings on the piece.  Has anyone seen these?  Is this an early Griswold?  Unfortunately, I do not have a picture of this pan.

I don't believe any of the Griswold #10 pans were ever bottom gated, only side-gated.  Steve may know if any were bottom gated.

Jeff, what you have is not Griswold but from some other maker.  No.10 style popover pans are a common style with many makers having made them.  Sometimes a different number was put on the pan; Favorite, for instance, marked theirs as a No.4 but it was cast from a Griswold pan.  I kept a bottom gated No.10 popover in my collection because I think it is a neat pan.  Is the handle marked also with a "P" on it?  One of the old, gated pans is that way but I think there is also another popover without it.

Thanks for the information.  I wonder if it is a GF Filley piece.  If anyone has a photo of similar muffin or popover pan that could help with identifying the bottom-gated piece I saw, I'd like to see it.

Jeff,
Being as how there were dozens if not over a hundred foundries casting iron cookware in the 19th century it is almost impossible to tell who made your pan.  It's not a Filley as all their pans are known but for the No.15 listed in their catalog.
