Picked up a a pair of Griswold Patty Irons last week.  But something is odd.  You can't close the lid.

That first picture is actually a fake.  According to the Griswold catalog, these did not come in a box.

I've been looking a long time for a set of No 3 patty irons.  Not the box marked 3, but the actual irons marked 3.  They are much larger than than the normal No 2 as you can see in the pictures below.

The No 3 set is not common, I've only seen a couple ever offered, and usually more money that I want to spend.  This set showed up, not cheap, but close enough for me to buy.

You may see a 5 or 8 cast inside.  I don't know if there is any significance.

Nice looking set.  Will finally got the last #3 we needed for the set.  Have you ever cooked with these?
Jenny :)

Haven't cooked with them.  They are awfully big so I likely won't, but it wouldn't hurt them.

Never realized how large those were until I saw the picture with the box for scale.  Nice

Hello Tom. Thank you for pointing this out to me about the number three size patty molds. I have forgot about them. I don't believe I have ever seen any of them for sale, or maybe wasn't paying close enough attention and they got by me. But you have renewed my interest here on these Tom. So thank you again. I'll put these on my radar screen.  :)

Yeap it was fish in barrel auction and I got them. ;D ;)

I got a couple over the years off ebay that were poorly listed. Have since sold them.
