Price for a cracked #12 Tite-Top Dutch Oven
« on: October 25, 2014, 05:06:40 PM »
Hi All,
I passed on a #12 Tite-Top Dutch(Block logo I think) oven I found today in a small shop back in the mountains near me. It had a lid, was in really great shape except for two small cracks on the inside near where the bail connects, the cracks are about 2 inches long and don't go all the way to the outside. They were asking $230.00 but told me $200.00 would buy it.  Thoughts?

Never saw a crack that didn't go through. Casting flaw?

Hello Jeff. There are cracks that do not go all the way through, but they will eventually with use. And ever who started this thread said it was in great shape except for two cracks. I don't mean to be mean, but if it had two cracks in it it was not in great shape at all. I would say to anybody don't shell out your hard earned dollars for pieces with issues. You're just buying somebody elses trouble. UNLESS its a RARE piece and I mean RARE I would not knowingly buy a piece that is cracked. Like a lot of things in life, there are always exceptions to the rule.  :)
