Thanks Michelle! My baby Girl Taylor (Yellow Lab) helped me out with the photos for size comparison ;D Haven't cleaned em up yet :)

There were a couple other collectors, but actually only one other that ran up the prices. He got the little stove I wanted :'( and didn't give me too much competition on the kettle. I got the kettle for $70 and the skillet for $150, but they included 3 antique vases in the grouping, so I will recoup some $$ on those ;D I like em' ::) If he wasn't there I would have stolen the skillet >:(Thanks!

Nice pot.  This is called a light casting pot in my 1864 book for this foundry.  They were made in sizes 1-15 (1/2 -32 gallons).  Price in my book is $4.00 in 1866.  Remember Savery Co. sold all of their cast iron products by the pound.

Thanks Greg! So what do you suppose the current value is, or do you think it's however bad a person wants it? :-? I'm sure I won't be selling it as I just love it, and it is in such great shape and has such a history. I am anxious to get a chance to put some mineral oil on it ;) My back will tell you today, that it's worth a lot if it's by the pound ;D

Value is dependent on how it is sold.  Not many collectors interested in Savery (besides me), especially these big pots, as they are hard to display and take up a lot of room.  However, lately, these large pots have gone from 150-$200+.  If I had to guess, I'd say $175-250.

Savery items are very crude and don't have very smooth textures either.  I have a few items that are smooth but most of them are rough, definitely not like a Griswold and WW finish to them

Perry, yes, all of their items were sold by the pound.  The catalog that I have is about 3x7 and has about 80 pages (I"m guessing, as I'm at the hospital right now.

Here is a pix of the foundry

Wow Greg, thats a neat lookin book, it looks brand new. Do you have those for resale?

I like the looks of those Savery kettles. I have bid on them before but didn't do any good. Marylou, how much do you think your 15 gallon one weighs? Can you pick it up?

The pix I posted is from the Internet (library in Delaware).  That library has the only other copy of this catalogue that I have seen and it is identical to mine and yeap it is in pretty darn good shape too.  I have not reprinted this one, the pages inside are really fragile.

Greg, Which library in Delaware?  I'm guessing Winterthur, but it could be the U. Del. library too.  I'd like to go there and see what else they have.
