Now Mark, if you've ever been up close and personal with a Bull Elk, you might look at it a bit differently..... 

I've never seen even a large PA. buck come even close...

Never been up close to a bull elk, but I was sitting in my bosses truck after grouse hunting in Maine when a full grown bull moose walked out of the woods and decided to use the side of the truck to scratch an itch.  He used the top of the cab to scratch the side of his belly.  It was a B I G moose.

Comparing the moose to a whitetail deer...kind of like comparing a Great Dane to a Pomeranian, they are both dogs.  ::)
