Lodge / BSR / or ???
« on: November 18, 2007, 08:43:04 PM »
Need some opinions on this handled corn bread pan.  I thought at first it was BSR, but after looking at the bottom side of the handle am not sure, could it be Lodge ?

No, this goes in my oddball/user collection.  I have been watching them all year.  This is the 5th one I saw, they usually get bid up to the $60.00 range, got this one for $20.00.

Cool.  I will keep an eye out for them on ebay then.  Maybe I can get a good deal too.

Tom.  The Century catalog on the dark side shows a "8 section handled corn cob pan".  And while I may be preaching to the choir, BSR often used a "H" in the numbers on their pieces. The Small Fry Pan has "68H-1"  on the bottom; also does not have the typical BSR  handle.

Tom that one is BS&R. I asked the BS&R guys about that one a few months ago and all replied that it was a BS&R item, no doubt. I have one of those myself, I like the handle.  Why they didn't make the deep V shape on the handle I don't know.

Thanks for all the replys, I was sure it was BSR but got to thinking back and thought I remembered a ebay item last summer from Nevada, Mo that had the V shaped handle.  Memory is going just like the eyes, byfocals sometimes play tricks.

Tom looking at mine the handle has a more pronounced V Shape on the handle. Same markings though. Maybe one is later than the other?

This story I heard about in 1960 or 70. Whatever the year was? Someone said that if it said made in U S A, it was. The story was there was a place in China that put made in U. S. A., (note the dots after U S A). Hard to believe that thay could do that. And hard to believe that I could remember that many years ago. ;D  ;D

Only a story, please do not quote, just might not be the hole story. ;)
What I know, I keep forgetting.

I heard a similar story, though it was set in the '50's in a town in Japan that they renamed to Usa (no Dots). True?  Who cares, it's a good yarn!

I recently saw one of these in PA that they had labelled 'Lodge' and wanted $45.  It had no markings and I passed on it.  This thread convinces me that it's not a Lodge and that I didn't pass up a good deal.  All is well  8-)
