Road trip cast iron
« on: November 16, 2007, 11:01:45 PM »
This is what I picked up while on Vacation.  Nothing real exotic, but had alot of fun at the antique malls and flea markets.
Left to right top row is a Martin #5, Martin #10, Lodge hammered griddle #7 and #14 Lodge camp oven bottom.  Second row is a single spout #6 gate marked skillet, Blacklock sad iron, Sheffield sad iron (Martin) with some cheesy trivet.  Third row is a Lodge pizza pan, single spout gate marked skillet #8, and Lodge original finish #14 camp oven lid.  I saw lots of iron, but didn't have a ton of cash to spend on it.  This stuff I got pretty cheap, which is how I like to buy cast iron. ;)

Very Nice Roger.
Experience hath shewn, that even under the best forms of government those entrusted with power have, in time, and by slow operations, perverted it into tyranny.

Nice Roger.

Can you post a close up of the Sheffield?   I think I have two of them,  if I am thinking of the right ones.   And both of the handles are slanted a bit,  to the base.

Thanks,

Will 8-)

It has a slight tilt, but not much.  Someone painted the handle gold.

Those are nice Roger. Did you get that pizza pan at the lodge store?

I wonder how many men that iron has knocked out?  ;D

Probably not enough ;D

Nice iron, Roger.  I love those two single-lipped skillets.

Perry, I got that at the South Pittsburgh store.  It's a second and was only $19.95.  I've used it twice so far and I love it.

Sandy, I'll post some pics of them when I get them cleaned up.  Those #6 gate marked skillets are hard to find I've only seen just a few.

When you get them cleaned Roger, thats a good idea to get them posted. If they are the ones with the recessed number in the handle, I think I have 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12, but mine are double lipped, uh, that would not be the same would it?  :-/ Well, I mean the old bottom gated skillets anyway.

Here is my #6 and #7.   The #6 is really tilted and smooshed. ;D   The #7 has a small tilt to it.   The #6  was gold under all of the black.   The #7 is all black.

Will, I didn't know what you meant when you said "smooshed" but the picture sure tells the tale. I wonder how it got that way?  :-/ They must have used it at one time to level a corner or the log cabin.  ;D It sure took a licken and kept on ticken though.
