ERIE #10 with "Scoop Handle"!

Hi all! I just acquired an early ERIE #10 skillet with no p/n and the "scoop" handle that has been a topic on a few past forum posts. I remember some lengthy discussions hosted by Steve Stephens about this type ERIE at least a year or so ago on the, now deleated, general questions topic of this forum. Since this past topic and its posts are now not able to be accessed, I was just wondering if this is a type 1 or type 2 early series ERIE. Also is it considered to be one of ERIEs finer castings, as it is quite lightweight and ultra smooth? Any estimate regarding timeframe of manufacture? It exhibits unusually large pour spouts, a substantial upper lip reinforcing rim, and an unusual heavy triangular shaped handle reinforcement pad. What would its current collector value be in excellent condition...that is exhibiting no warpage, pitting, or cracks? c1880 to 1887, series 1, later with reinforcing pad.  Value I don't know but maybe $75 to 125.  I think series 2 ERIEs are a bit finer cast than series 1 but certain pans of each series may be better than others.

I agree with Steve, the scooped handle skillets are now being referred to as the First Series and were made from c1880 to c1886.

Other characteristics are:
Block "ERIE" in Quotes
Outside Heat Ring
No Pattern Number
Has the so called Wrap Lip
Some had the distinct Reinforcing Pad for the Handle and some didn't
Manufactured in Sizes 7 thru 12

How about posting a picture of this skillet and show in particilar the handle and its reinforcing pad.

Steve and Roy. Belated thanks for your respective replies to my inquiry regarding the scooped handle Erie 10 skillet. Greg moved the original topic thread soon after I posted it and I couldnt find it again. I figured it was lost, and I just now stumbled upon it. Forgive my lack of ettiquite in acknowledging your replies. I can truthfully say that this pan is the smoothest and finest cast ERIE of any of the many others I own and is a definite keeper. Any chance you could post a pic of the scoop handle?  I am clueless as to what it looks like.

Well, Marty, the books don't exactly shout out "scoop handle" in the photo captions.  How would you have known?
