Unusual Plett Pan
« on: August 16, 2005, 08:59:05 PM »
Anyone have any ideas on who might have made this plett pan?....it only has PATENT APPL'D FOR  on the handle, but the handle seems unusually long compared to most pletts I have seen.

Didn't Wagner make some early long handled ones similiar to that one?  They were marked on the bottom with the WW logo.  I've seen and had one like you show Jerry but don't know the maker.  It's a nice pan with very good quality casting.

Looks Andresen to me. They have a long arched handle on them. I don't have mine any longer or I'd shoot a pic. Look in Hausslers book.

I also think this may be the early Andresen pattern.  The bottom along with the handle tells the story.  Andresen was also pretty careful about patenting and trademarking everything.  Nothing to definitely tie it to Andresen though.  I'm not at home right now but will measure both the Andresen pan and this one to see if they are the same (I picked one up earlier this year).

Paul and I spoke briefly about it but I can't remember if he has one or not.

Ed, it does look like the pan shown on page 138, 139, and 143 of Haussler's book.   Mine is 9 1/2" inside the rim diameter.  Thanks, as usual, I didnt even think to look in his book.   ;D

I like these with the long handle marked or unmarked, not so hard on the wrist like the Griswolds. Wish I would have kept mine and sold the Gris. Glad to help Jerry.

I have a couple of these and have not been able to tie them to any particular foundry. They do have the long handle style and as Steve says are reasonably good castings. Don't believe it's Andresen or Griswold. They are not real rare as they show up every so often.
