Help identifying this lid
« on: September 22, 2019, 10:04:35 PM »
My son in law found this Griswold dutch oven with a lid that doesn't match, wondering if anyone can help identify it. Not in my possession yet. Thanks

Well it is a skillet lid, but ID, I know we have discussed this one before, but for the life of me, I can't find the thread on the FORUM where it was discussed.

Mi-Pet (Western Foundry), O'Brien & O'Brien, and Crescent Foundry (Ozark) all used beehive lids on their wares.  I don't think any of them were marked.

There may be others that I can't think of.

Crescent usually had theirs marked with a 3 digit number underneath the lid.  Mine fits a #8 and has 530 above the center hump and a 4 below it.

Thanks Randy,
I still don't have it in hand, but he says he can't see any markings, so I'm thinking Western.
Once gotten I'll have to clean it up.

Wasn't aware of the Crescent markings on the beehive covers.  Thank you Randy, I stand corrected.

I Originally didn't stete that it was unmarked and you helped me research the possibilities which I really appreciated. It's a great day when we wake up and learn something new, so thank you.

Hey Tom, That's why we're here... to draw from that huge learning curve.

Personally, I'm glad the knowledge sharing never stops, that's what makes this sickness madness hobby so fascinating.
