Wagner Hot Pots
« on: February 18, 2019, 12:39:04 PM »
I picked up these three items a few weeks ago and I am curious what were "hot pots" used for?  Both have lids and are in pretty good shape.  I also picked up this Wagner toy kettle in the deal. It has what looks to be an old coat of silver paint or a similar type finish on it.  Anyone know if that was original or did someone put that on there later?  The hot pots are on page 268 of the 5th edition of Schiffer's Griswold & Wagner book and the toy kettle on page 265.  Any additional info would be appreciated.

I use mine for bacon grease. Looks really spiffy on the top of the stove, and totally functional.

Hi Nicky,

I think of the Hot Pots as miniature Dutch Ovens.

They were made in 4 different sizes... 8 1/2 oz, 10 oz., 12 oz, and 24 oz capacities.

These were heavily marketed for commercial use in Hotels, etc, for various size servings.

The Wagner Toy Kettle is an earlier one with the Block WAGNER logo, and yours is Nickel Plated.

Hope that helps!
