I am looking for some information on a washington bi-centennial lid w/cameo of washington 1732-1932.  There is one listed in an upcomming auction in my area and I am interested in it.  I have checked the blue book but am wondering if the pricing is up to date.  thanks

Thats an odd piece and its hard to say. I have not seen one sell ever. If there are any collectors at the auction I would say it will go plenty high. Some of the prices in the blue book are high and some low, and as the authors state, what area of the contry you are in makes a difference as well. I would not be afraid to give the book price for it. Has anyone else on here seen one sell on ebay?

I have seen three on Ebay.  One was a black iron lid that came out about midnight one night.   It had a buy it now on it of $499.99 and I passed it up because of lackage of money.   Within 10 minutes it was bought.   Second one I saw was chromed.  It went for about $800.00     Third one was black iron and went for $1000.00+

Lowen,   These are very hard to come by.  I have seen a couple on ebay with prices as follows:  $875. in January 2002, $860. April 2002 but reserve was not met.  I picked mine up in Philly last year for $700. and this was before the auction or any swap meet. I also did not hesitate on the price. One went off at auction there for $750-$800 and it wasn't as nice as the one I grabbed (IMO).  The G&CICA has one up for raffle at the convention and if memory serves me they paid around $800. for it.  These prices are all for black iron.

That it would be nice to have a picture with the thread.  This was a pic I took at the forerunner to the Cast Iron Museum of Larry and Marge's in 2011.  Had to be careful though, there was a spider nearby :-/

There was one offered awhile back on ebay but it was thought to be a scam.  If memory serves me right one sold recently or I say recently as in last year or so at auction.  I dont remember what it brought.  There is one being offered at an upcoming auction I have seen.  There is quite a bit of iron at the sale being held in amish country but from what I have seen in the sale bill pics most is not collector grade iron.  The washington lid appears to be badly pitted at this sale
