Crescent foundry company
« on: April 02, 2017, 06:37:45 PM »
I just scored a #8 crescent foundry co chicken fryer, without the lid  >:(, that had a fair amount of surface rust. No problem removing. Just waiting to season.
My question is, what were the production years and what happened to .them ?Thank you. I only paid $20 for mine and it looks like they're fetching $100-$150 on ebay.

Anthony, there's not a lot of info on here about Crescent.  They were out of St. Louis, some of their pieces were marked with the name Ozark and some had Union Made in the logo.  Many of the pieces had a 25 before the size of the piece so a #8 skillet would be marked 258.  The matching lid for your chicken fryer is a beehive style and they also did them with plating. Check completed sales not just listed pricing on eBay. Those prices sound high unless there is a lid with it.

Estimate from my rusty memory is from the 19-teens into the early 1940's.  Similar styled pieces are found by O'Brien and O'Brien out of Chicago.
