Info on pot

I would appreciate any info about a small covered pot that has been in our family for over 70 years. I believe it is french. The cover has lettering and numbers that appear you be:
Margurite le ianre. 771
There are also what appears to be 2 crosses.
Any info would be appreciated. Thank you!

Sorry, Monique, but I have never seen anything like it.  It looks like a small pot.  Can you give us the pot's dimensions or capacity?

I took the liberty of copying and rotating the photo, here it is in the rotated position.

I believe the writing on the lid is : Le ianre Margurite, Can you provide a close up of the 2 crosses

Is it possible the crosses are crossed cannon barrels?

It would also be helpful to have good shots of all of the text. You might try taking the lid off and photographing it from above.

Other useful pieces of information are:
(1) Where was the pot acquired? Was it purchased new or was it acquired used, possibly overseas?
(2) What is your family heritage/connection to the piece?
(3) Are you sure it is French? Could it be from another French-speaking location (e.g., Louisiana, Quebec, parts of the Caribbean)?

I tried a French to English translator and Le is the but ianre was not found, I also tried an Italian to English translator and again Le is the but ianre is not found

So could the Le ianre Margurite actually be a name like the name of a ship?
I know it is a stretch

Thank you for all the responses! I really appreciate your help! My grandfather was an antique dealer in France. My mother was given many antiques when she married in 1948. I assume it is french. What I thought are crosses, my son thinks are the number 1 in 1771. I'm having difficulty attaching an image. I get the message it is too large to attach. Any suggestions?

Hard to tell with only seeing just a small part but it looks like 54, But it also looks like it could be a small letter s and then 1771 but that does not make sense because the small s would be upside down in front of the M in Margurite
