Did you ever have one of those pieces that you overpaid for because the books aren't necessarily accurate, Then when cleaning it, it turns out worse than you expected? I bought a Griswold #22 corn bread gem pan at an auction. I soaked in lye for a while, then electrolysis. Scrubbed like hell, then seasoned. I wasn't happy with the looks, so back in the lye, scrubbed again, then in vinegar, then electro again. I finally seasoned it again, and it looks ok, but coloration is not even, has some dark spots. I'm trying to give it away on ebay, because I just don't want to look at it anymore. Hopefully someone will bid before it ends.
