« on: January 05, 2014, 03:03:32 AM »
How common is a 609 A Griswold griddle? I have 2. Ones a little pitted on bottom the other is really nice. Im just wondering if there was a gazillion of these? or if I have the only 2 in existence. Thanks for any advice.

Like this?

There are quite a few different logo styles on handled griddles, which may affect the answer.... that is why we are always nagging folks for pictures. ;)

Yes but they are both A's not b"s and the handles are different. My wife is working on the picture issue so hopefully I can post some soon.

Quick stroll thru completed auctions on ebay these griddles are selling from $40 to $100 not including shipping. Iron must be up, to me it's a $45 maybe $50 griddle. Oh there was a 609a so you don't have the only two. ;)
Unless some other info has surfaced, as far as I know the letters were used as a tracking/quality control method of the patterns being used. They do not factor into the value of the pan for most collectors.
Curious to see differing handles?? :-?

Bumping this old thread.  Any estimation on value on one of these?

And, is that heat damage in the center or just seasoning burnt off and hasn't been re-applied?  Is $25 a good deal on it?

  • I don't collect waffle irons; they just show up.

[size=12]Without seeing it in person to feel if it's warped or look if it's cracked or has any other problems that aren't obvious in the photo, I'd say that $25 is a decent deal on that piece, but it's not like you absolutely stole it at that, either.  It's a common griddle.

The first handle griddle I ever got was a 609 just like this.  I paid more than $25 for it, too.

I don't know if that's heat damage or just rust.  It does look almost like somebody used it with a small burner at some point in its life.

That was my thought as well on the heat marks.   It's an hour away so I'm gonna pass on it.  He did say that it sits flat with no wobble though.  Thank you.
