Trying to identify this skillet
« on: January 06, 2016, 03:16:48 PM »
Greetings, I have in my possession a Griswold #6 Cast Iron Skillet. It has a number 699 over an "H" at the 6:30 position on the bottom. It has a smooth shiny silver handle. The skillet is textured silverish looking on the outside and
a somewhat smoother silverish look on the upper inside for about a third of the way down. May I send you a couple of photos of the skillet and ask you to help me identify the vintage of this item. I can't find anything online for this specific skillet. Your assistance will be greatly appreciated. My email is kennjoy1@gmail.com  Thank you, Kenn Bruinier

Alternative is to click on the email button under my post and sent the pictures to me, and I can attach them.  :)

Impossible to say Kenn without pics of the bottom (top and sides would be nice too)... or more info. Smooth bottom or does it have a heat ring? Large logo with block letters or slant letters, or small logo. Textured sides like a hammered finish?  Sounds like a plated skillet, either nickel or du-chrome. Either way, they're all pretty commonly found online. Just need to know which one it is to give the years of manufacture and approx value based on condition.  ;)

Kenn,

What you have here is a Griswold Smooth Bottom, Large Logo skillet that appears to be Chrome Plated (Size 6).

Collector speak would be Griswold, SB, LB EPU.  :)

Circa 1930 to 1939.

Blue book value is $25-$35, but plated pieces are generally lower value, depending on the condition of the plating.

Hope this helps! :) :)
