Gate mark? or repair? on chicken fryer
« on: September 07, 2015, 04:41:30 AM »
Chicken fryer that I've been using fairly frequently without any problems.  I thought there was a polished gate mark on the bottom, but when I was taking pictures of it for my moving inventory, a close  well-lit look at the back made me start to wonder if it was actually a gate mark or a repair?  No sign of anything on the inside, and the mark doesn't extend through the heat ring.

It looks like a casting mark, just a rough spot on the sand mold, quite possibly there was a mark from the original piece used to make the mold and they smoothed it over before they cast the piece.

I'm with Valerie, it looks like a ghost mark from where they filled in the logo on the skillet the mold was patterned off of. I have a wapak skillet with similar marks.
