Unique find or customized Griswold
« on: August 29, 2015, 12:14:50 PM »
Found this over the weekend at a yard sale.  I have never seen one like this before and I have scoured the Internet looking for another one with no luck.  It appears to be a standard 746 slant logo but as you can see it has a wire bale handle.  It is stamped 746X.  Could this be original or is this a aftermarket alteration?  The handle seems to be the same wire as the round griddle of the same time period.  I do not want to try cleaning it up until I know what it is.  Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

It's probably original. Bail handles were extra, but they were an option on long griddles.

I would clean it up in either case. I have a hunch that bail is original.
Hold still rabbit, so I can cook you.

Wow, if it is original I am guessing it it pretty uncommon.  Means I am going to be far more careful cleaning and seasoning.  And I was complaining when my wife woke me at 7:00 to hit the yard sales  :). Now to see how well it cleans up!

Welcome!  Nice find!

I used to ski Blue Mountain by you.  Nice, 1,000-foot vertical ski area.  Used to take 248 off 22.  :)

Mount Wachusett up here reminds me a lot of Blue.
