Which Dishwasher Cycle to Use?
« on: March 28, 2015, 10:34:47 AM »
Which is the best dishwasher cycle to use for my cast iron skillet?  Would I use the same cycle for a Griswold and a Wagner?

Hello Mike. Its good to hear from you.  :)

And about the dishwasher. I'm glad you asked about that. I was washing some large Griswold Skillets and I mistakenly set the dishwasher on WAPAK. And the water was so cold that the skillets shrunk two sizes and they looked like they had been beat with an Indian tomahawk. So I am posting this so others wont make the same mistake I did.  :o

Good to hear from you Perry and good your sense of humor hasn't changed.

I'm glad to be back and fortunately I don't have a WAPAK setting on my dishwasher.

Thanks Mike.  I'm getting there... as we both know it's a long slow process.

Glad to see you back on the Forum.  I've missed your input and humor!

Well Mike, obviously there is a problem with your washing machine. I'd say the different settings are in French and you can't read French.

Here in the States the Cast Iron Collectors Lobby worked for a Bill that all dishwashers had to be made with all the cast iron manufacturers settings. It has been passed in the House and will go to the Senate for their consideration. The Bill was originally bogged down in Committee where they were debating whether to include waffle irons or not. And you know how that is when a Committee gets their hands on anything. The only thing that saved the Bill was that they reached a compromise. So this includes waffle irons that were manufactured prior to 1950. Anything after 1950 still have to be cleaned by hand. You know how politics is, you just can't have everything.  :(

I'm waiting to see what the final outcome is before I purchase a new dishwasher.

Thanks Cheryl,

When I first got cancer and read about the type I had I was not expecting to see 2015.

I had some good doctors and I believe someone else watching over me and I'm still ticking.
