Unmarked corn stick pan
« on: February 25, 2015, 10:34:01 AM »
I am looking at a pan on Craigslist.  It holds 22 sticks (11x2).  It is unmarked except for an H and 44B on the bottom.  Any ideas?  I'm thinking it is a #23  955 Griswold.

It sounds like it is probably a Lodge circa 1930's.

Thanks Cheryl, is it OK to post a Craigslist link so you can see it?

Ed, sounds like 30's-50's Lodge, depending on what the other marks look like. Either "borrow" the pictures or post the link. We like seeing things like this.

I would say it is post 1950 Lodge, and the seller is on the high side with the asking price.

Russell, I agree, but would refine it further to after 1968... probably 70's to 90's...  because

Of the hang holes in the handles... no holes in 1968, but in 1990, yes.

Here's hoping that someday the catalog gap gets filled in from 68 thru 90.

About 1/2 the asking price in my mind....

If it was made after 1960, wouldn't it have Made in USA on it?

Ed, generally speaking, 1965 is the date thrown around for the 'Made In USA' addition. I have seen an original boxed set of skillets from the early 70's that was NOT imprinted with 'Made In USA.' If there is one thing Lodge was back then, it was NOT being uniform in its transition of ALL pieces to new labeling. It would be nice if the piece was older, but the markings just don't show it to be.

Here's an ebay link for a regular #22 style cornstick pan with similar markings. Looks like 80's-90's from the hang tag.

Until you have cleaned one of these pans, you'll never know why I think people should pay you to take pans like these off their hands.

That does look like it would be a PITA to clean.
