Identifying unmarked 10 1/2 inch griddle
« on: September 17, 2014, 07:17:37 AM »
I just picked up a nice little 10 1/2 inch griddle, no manufacturer name but I think it is a pre 1960 Wagner Ware piece, Round cast iron griddle, Block number 9 on top of handle, Letter A on underside of handle, 10 1/2 Inch Griddle at 6 Oclock and a letter A under it.

If my research is correct this is  pre 1960 Wagner Ware, I have it soaking in oven cleaner in a plastic bag at the moment to clean the years of built up crud and will post photos when possible.
Thanks
Valerie

That's what it sounds like from your description.  The photos will help to tell you for sure.

Hi Roger, I am still cleaning it up but I have confirmed it is a Wagner, It has a Wagner  Ware Sidney "O" mark that is barely visible but can be seen when held at the right angle and right lighting.

Thank you

Markings actually say 10 1/4 INCH and not 10 1/2

Mostly cleaned up with a coating of Canola oil to keep it from rusting, The swirl mark appears to be from the surface machining

The ghost mark, It is really hard to see, even more so since I applied the oil but with the right lighting and angle I can make out Wagner and Sidney O, The last pic shows the contour of the top edge

Common size and one like that always sits on my stovetop for hash browns, grilled cheese, pancakes, etc. Second most used piece of cast iron I have.
The good chefs never burn anything--we call it "culinary brown"!!
