What does a "chef skillet" do that a normal one...

My local Walmart has a few Lodge chef skillets in the camping stuff and I thought of getting one just because it is a slightly differant style.
Don't see what it would do differant, though.

Shane,
Just used mine this AM to make a chili cheese omelet. It slid right out of the pan when I turned it sideways not a trace left in the pan cannot do that with a regular skillet! Useful anytime you need to transfer a dish from the skillet to a plate without loosing the shape of the item you are cooking.

 [smiley=agree2.gif] Great for omelets. Saute some veggies first, slide them out instead of chasing them around, then start the omelet. Add the veggies, fold, and slide the omelet out onto a plate.

Sloped sides that let you stir and slide food out better than a traditional skillet

On the cooking shows, you see the chef's pushing the skillet forward, in the air, then jerking the skillet back to "stir" the contents. I can do this with a light skillet, but have a hard time generating the "jerk" with the weight of a cast iron skillet. I had a BS&R chef skillet, but couldn't really figure out an advantage to it, and sold it to a friend.
