First find ????

Well took a ride today to look for some cast iron (Griswold)newbie.  first stop -o- second stop I picked up 3,1 #8 block letter Gris with heat ring needs cleaning,2 a#12 Wagner Sidney o and last ??? a #9 Erie that I do not know if fake or not, it's pretty caked up and hard to read. The ones on e-bay seem to have straight sides to the heat ring this ones is curved to the heat ring but smooth like glass on the inside.it has the EIRE on top and #9 at 6 o'clock   Any thoughts.

Based on the inside being smooth I cannot imagine it being fake. Congradulations on your finds!

Hello Gary. If those were your first finds I am sorry to tell you that in the future you won't do that good every time, not even close.  :(

So for your first time I'd say you made some very good finds. Based upon what you say I can't think that any of them are fake. Now of course you didn't give a hundred dollars each for them, did you?  :-/ ;D

No I did not spend that on all three, Ill try to post some pics later, maybe this weekend. He has some more I didn't get to look over (wife was with me)going sat  Thanks for the replies

The inset heat ring just means it's a 4th, 5th or 6th series Erie..more info needed once it's cleaned.  Nice finds Gary!  ;)
