Info on Wagner 853? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?
« on: August 06, 2006, 08:43:58 PM »
I was scrounging around Marble Falls and Burnet over the weekend and found two Wagner 853 toy kettles. They are not mentioned in either the blue or red books. Anyway I bought one of them.  Are they worth collecting?  The price was reasonable.  Also I found a set of 100th anniversary Wagner Ware C/I, toy DO--corn muffin pan--and a square skillet. They were very proud of the set.  They were all marked  100th anniversary W/W ect. They all looked to be new.  They are still there. Any info on this?

I don't know about the 853 pots MD but the toy set came out in 1991.  At one point some were sold for $25 for the set to clear them out.  A few sets were made in cast aluminum (I've heard about 50 sets).

I need to go back to that area.  We went to Fredericksburg a year ago.  I sure like it down there.  Didn't see much iron though.
As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.

Any iron you might find in Fredericksburg is gonna be WAY over-priced! As will any other "antiques" you might find. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Fredericksburg! We honeymooned there, a little over a year ago. And, we had a blast.

So many places to go and things to see. Loved cruising all the little shops in town. But, my scottish decent prevented me from many purchases in those shops  :P Of course, there are always exceptions... not often though!

I like to wander out of town and hit the smaller "burgs". More authentic and reasonably priced stuff to be found. Plus, the added benefit of a road trip in the gorgeous Texas Hill Country.

Things are very high priced IMO.  The anniversary set was marked $295.00. Yep thats what I thought.  I looked at alot of iron but only bought the Wagner 853. This area is a tourist area, I expected high but not out of sight. We got into a few smaller towns but found no iron.   I did see a Griswold tobacco cutter for $300.00.
