The Wright pan does have a 1994 date on it. It's a relatively scarce modern pan. The John Wright Company made a decision to drastically reduce their consumer products and focus on industrial production in the US around 1997 or so. A lot of the newer items are made offshore, but the earlier ones are made here.
They are again making some quality, highly detailed bakeware items in the USA, but be certain to buy only those that are clearly marked as made in the US. The offshore items are junk.
It is coated with a non-stick coating. Their tradename is Ironstone. And you are correct, someone has used it a lot and it looks like it is nicely seasoned. If you want to clean it up, I would put it in a lye bath to take the seasoning off, or use oven cleaner. Directions can be found in the cleaning section here. It really is a nice display item when cleaned up.
If you want to use it, don't take off the seasoning. Soak it in warm or hot water with a little soap for a while. Rinse it off. If needed you can use a cloth and gently rub off anything that might be sticking, but you shouldn't have to. Put a little spray of PAM on it the first time you use it and the muffins should be great and just fall out of the pan.
On a good day this pan, if cleaned up, should sell for around $40 on eBay.
