Need  some info on a #14 Skillet
« on: May 08, 2006, 01:21:26 PM »
I found  #14 skillet at a garage sale this morning and it followed me home. Now I need some assistance. I believe it is a transition piece during the change over fro Griswold to Wagner, but not sure.

It ios marked with a 14 on the top of the handle, an "A" on the botom of the handle.
On the bottom of the pan,  across the top it's marked "Cast Iron Skillet" with "14" underneath that lettering
At the bottom it is marked 15 1/4 Inch  with an "A" under that.  Handle is exactly like a Griswold #14. Weight the same as a Griswold, within a few ounces!
The finish is great, no porosity or gate marks. Grinding around the edge is consistent and well done.

Am I correct is thinking this is a transition skillet??

You are right Darrel, those were made after Griswold was sold to Wagner.  They show up on ebay from time to time, and sometimes bring almost as much as the marked ones.

Does it say 15 1/4 inch or 15 1/4 inch skillet? Need a picture of the bottom.
