ERIE eccentric bulge kettle?
« on: March 03, 2006, 03:55:29 PM »
I recently purchased a #7 eccentric kettle and when i put it next to my #8 i realized my #8 is a bulge kettle but it has the same bottom as the eccentric kettle. They both have the offset circle to fit into the top of a stove(I assume thats what its for).I will try to post a pic tonight.I cant find it in either the red or blue book with that bottom.Any ideas? Is it rarer?thanks.

I think there were four Griswold kettles with pit bottoms made; Eccentric Kettle, Eccentric Bulged Pot and Extra Large Eccentric Pot (Style B).  These are shown in the c.1930 Griswold catalog.  Additionally a Low Eccentric Kettle was made earlier but discontinued.  All of these are rare to a degree but not especially valuable since there is not much demand for them.
A trivet was made for them (or some of them) and is unmarked.  It looks like a floor drain grate sort of.
