Ok, I bit the bullet and bought it. (For me, it's a bigger purchase, since I don't technically "need" a #11 pan. But this one is so elegant, and it's almost half the weight of my Wagner 11, and...ironitis, I guess). Here are 4 pics.

Since I still can't get on the other side to read up on foundry info, I'd love it is one of you folks could tell me about what date we're talking about for this pan. Thanks, and thanks for all your welcomes, too. Carla

Not much is known about the company except what was said before.   If I had to guess on a date,  1890's to 1920's.   That is just a guess.   Anyone closer???

Nice skillet!!!!!  If you do sell it,  give me a jingle.

1890's to 1905?  But, if Marion got ahold of old Griswold or Wagner patterns to make this pan is could be later.

Steve - is the reinforcement on this skillet similar/identical to that seen on the one , two or three series ERIEs? I haven't held one in my hands, so curious...

Most series 1 ERIE's have no reinforcing pad but, if they do, it's more rounded or humppy.  Yours is similiar to series 2 and 3 but, even in those series, the pads vary somewhat.

Carla, One  ALWAYS needs a good 11 pan for $35. Good buy. The pans a beauty.

Carla, That is gorgeous!  And I second what Harry said about always needing a #11.  You could probably unload a truckload of them on this site alone.  As to getting to the Dark Side, I think Greg has to change your profile for you to access it.  You might IM him to remind him.  Sandy

Turns out, I'm in! I was waiting for some kind of notification, but on a whim I clicked on a WAGS-only topic, and presto! As for the Marion, I'm using it tonight for the first time. Between talking with the wrong person the first time, and being a terrible haggler in general, I paid $40. But from what everyone has said, I still did all right, so I'm happy. Now I just need to find some way to explain the logic to my husband...(and cooking with new iron does indeed smooth the waters!)

Carla, Welcome to the Dark Side.  You'll soon see the information on the public side of the forum is a mere fraction of what's on the WAGS members-only side.  As to $40 for the #11, you still got a great deal... wouldn't have if I had been in line in front of you!  It's a beauty.  Sandy

Thats not true at all Will.

I tracked the factory from when it moved from its roots in Sidney, Ohio to when it set up shop in Marion, Indiana. How long it was in Marion, Indiana, how many people it employed in Marion, Indiana, when it burned down in Marion, Indiana at its first location, when it was rebuilt at its new location, the floor plans of the plant, period advertisements, I went to the old plant, found original receipts of 1895? for cast iron (holloware) from the plant, found who the original owners were, what their street address was, what their telephone number was, well, you get the idea.

This information has not been posted because the people who would do this have their plates running over and are busy performing other necessary functions associated with this site. Its just a matter of when you got time to do what.

As far as a date for the skillet, based upon others from the time, I'd say 1890's.

That's awesome, Perry. I have a computer and some extra time this winter, until about May. I wonder if I could be of assistance in posting...

Carla, while I don't know the exact logistics of who is doing what, I have never seen an Organization that couldn't use volunteer help of some sorts. I know that ain't much of an answer, but thats the best I can give you.

If Perry could get you the same material that he sent me a couple years ago about Marion, Carla, you could write up the material into a form that I could directly post on the FOUNDRY PAGE.  I would send it to you, but I have this little condition, called a 4 month kitchen remodel, that has items all over this house and I can't find squat and believe me, I've looked for squat and it can't be found.

Greg, I'd be more than happy to send all the information to Carla for this purpose. Carla, please send me an email with the necessary information and I will get it out to you, that is, if that is what you can and will do?

send the email via a PM, as the bots have been on here a lot lately and they will steal your email address.

Greg, is there a way to post an email address without notifying the bots?  Something like writing it out-

somewhere at postalgoo dot com

Of do they get it that way also?
