Griswold two burner stove
« on: June 05, 2017, 10:12:22 PM »
I'm looking for information on a griswold #202 stove. This was the first I've seen with a Red Cross nameplate. I tried to attach some pics but was unsuccessful. There is a metal nameplate with a Red Cross in a circle and underneath is printed in all caps: GRISWOLD MFG. CO. ERIE, PA. U.S.A. The #202 is stamped in the metal at the bottom.  Any input you can give would be appreciated. Thanks.

Welcome to the WAGS Forum Donald.  This is a great place to learn about all things cast iron.  If you look at the top of the General Information Board there is a thread on posting photos.  This should help you.  If you still cannot, please PM our all purpose consultant, Cheryl Watson, who should be able to help.

I'm sure if some of the more knowledgeable people on the Forum see it they can tell you if it is legitimate.  I have never seen a colored sign on one of the stoves.

Welcome Donald. The attached steel plate with the red logo almost sounds like a # 2020 elevated hot plate. Tag is between the two burners (on top front, attached in 3 spots). The 2020 is on sheet steel elevated legs, and has a lower shelf. Just wondering, as a # 202 is an "Erie" brand truss leg (with an Erie plate on the front lip), and the cast legs are very fancy.
If yours is the 2020, the circa would be 1930's.  Not sure if this is of any help . If it is the 2020, the Blue Book has it at $ 175- 200, in good condition, with no issues.
