Wagner Hammered Coffee Pot value?
« on: March 15, 2017, 09:10:43 AM »
I found a Wagner Ware #3192, all the inside pieces are there and in good used shape, exterior is in great shape with few usual scratch marks on bottom surface, handle is solid and in good shape but finish is partially worn off wood.  Only condition issue I can find is the glass knob on top is a little loose as it has a chip out of it on the underside, still able to lift the lid with it.  I know the RB lists it at $50-60, what would be a reasonable selling value in this condition, as I can get it fairly cheap.

Hello Jeffrey. Sounds like an aluminum piece, is it? I'm pretty sure it is, and if so, aluminum, as a rule, don't bring a lot of money. At one time aluminum was worth MORE than gold.

Yes it is aluminum, so picking the piece up may not be worth it to resell?

Hello again Jeffrey. Oh I'm not saying you can't make money on this piece. What I am saying is this.

IMO, if you buy this piece for ten dollars, as you say, and I believe you probably could buy this piece for ten dollars as you say.

And that if you take it home, and put three or four hours into cleaning it, inside and outside, and polishing it to make it shiny, cause aluminum is beautiful when its done right.

In fact I have some aluminum that looks like we are talking about, AFTER its cleaned and polished. And we have the cleaning instructions for aluminum on this website for free.

Thats where I learned how to clean aluminum. And if you follow the step by step instructions, and as I said they are free.

And if you need help we'll be more than happy to guide you, show you, or we'll do whatever it takes, cause we love newbies.

And if you follow these instructions to the letter, you can POSSIBLY realize a profit of 50%, maybe a little lower, but still 40% return on your money.

As I understand and have been told, the banks are paying less than 3% on passbook savings and about 1%, or less, on checking accounts.

But if you buy a certificate of deposit for a period of time, I forget how long, but you have to keep the money with them.

And if you need to draw your money out, say to buy some more aluminum pieces that you can make 40% to 50% on, I have been told that they take extra money out and you are penalized.

But the good news is that making 40% to 50% on your investment you can take a penalty, cause making 40% to 50% on your initial invest probably won't hurt you that much.

If we can help you with any questions that you may have in the future about potential purchases feel free to call upon us at anytime.

We are the real deal. We have been here since 2002. And the good Lord willing we will be here when I am long gone. Now I know what you are immediately thinking. And you are wrong.

I'm not that old and I plan on being around here a lot longer. Let us know if we can help in any way. We have a lot of folks on here who collect aluminum. I have a few pieces myself. But most of my pieces are cast iron. I hope that helps.  :)
