What is this skillet?
« on: September 30, 2016, 10:46:48 PM »
These photos are before I was done cleaning it. It was through the Lye tank and fresh out of the electrolysis. I brought it in for some BKF and dawn but couldn't resist photos. Oh, and the slight golden look in the pics, isn't there. Don't know why it looks that way. No brass wires used.

Anyway, it has a flat handle like I've never seen. The rest of the skillet looks National. It even feels light like National.

Before it was cleaned I was bummed. Looking at it I really thought someone took a National and ground down the rib under the handle. WOW was I surprised when I saw a "1": on the underside of the handle. It wasn't ground down, BUT, who made these??

Someone somewhere must have seen one with a handle like  this, so? What is it please?

Photos don't do it justice but the cooking surface is really nice. One very small little imperfection that I'm sure will fill in within days. I plan on using this, unless it's a golden goose.

Why be bummed, Scott.  You may have something no one else has. 8-)

Great looking little 7 [smiley=thumbsup.gif] Looks to have a bit of age on it. Sometimes answers about origins are like Rome and don't come in a day ;)

unmarked items are usually unknown, unless there is something that is different about it that is particular to a foundry. Most times, it remains unknown.

I know most unmarked are unknown. This one just bugs me. The handle is flat with a 1 on it.

Before I saw the 1 I really thought someone just ground down a Natioal handle.

I just thought it wasn't so unknown.

Thanks to everyone that looked, maybe next time :)
