Block logo Wagner - Sidney, O - 8b
« on: September 30, 2016, 09:03:44 PM »
Hi everyone!

I recently picked up an 8" Wagner skillet at a thrift store for a cool $5.99.  It's polished to a super smooth surface inside with no pitting and absolutely no rock to speak of, so to say I was pleased is an understatement!

I have no plans to sell this baby, but I would love some help identifying it.  Knowing how much it's worth just makes me feel like a winner, so I'll take that info as well, if anyone knows.

As far as my research can tell, it's likely 1910-1915 era.  It's an 8", so I can't imagine it's particularly rare.  I just love the idea of doing my daily cooking in a pan that's over a hundred years old!

It's straight from the thrift store and hasn't been stripped or reseasoned yet, so keep that in mind.  I'll post new photos after I've gotten through that process...though I don't know where my electrolysis rig is, so it might be a few weeks till I find the right box.

Thanks for your help, everyone!

Hello Miriam. That is absolutely beautiful piece. It was made when WAGNER was doing some of their finest work. If you had that piece spit shined and all seasoned up you might get fifty dollars for it. As it is, twenty five dollars or so. A lot of folks think they should be able to buy a skillet for what you got this one for. It don't always work that way. You got a particularly good deal. So CONGRATULATIONS.  :)

Looking good... My favorite Wagners are a bit newer (only because I haven't seen any like yours ;)). They have higher logo, lower size. They're some of the smoothest, lightest out there.

Keep up the good work hunting and do check out that C&R link that John posted... Tons of great info. Also, enjoy exploring the rest of the forum.
