"Sidney" 3A

Did Wagner make these?  Age?  Value in cleaned up condition?  I'll take any info you have on these guys because I can't find anything.   Thank you in advance.

This Lil guy cleaned up beautifully.    I can't wait to get it out of the oven tomorrow morning and get some pics.    The cooking surface may be the nicest I have seen.   And it sits flat as possible.   No wobble at all.

The general consensus is that pan was made during the time Wagner owned the Sidney Hollow Ware foundry. 1897-1903

Not true. It was made long after Wagner sold the SHW Foundry back to Phil Smith. It most likely made in the early 1920s.

Whenever it was made, they did an absolutely amazing job on it.   It's beautiful.  Any ideas on value?  I haven't been able to find any.

Hello Tommy. Unless you found somebody that really wanted it bad, I'd say you would be lucky to get thirty dollars for it. The number three Wagners just don't bring much at all. I was at a Flea Market once and I bought some pieces and the guy had a big pile of number three Wagners there and he told me to help myself to some of them for free. I thanked him and said no because I didn't want to carry them around. I was out yesterday and I see one marked thirty dollars and it needed cleaned also. So I hope they like that piece because they are going to be looking at it a long time.

You did a very nice job of restoring that Tommy. Thanks for posting it. There is a picture of that piece in the Blue Book in fact.

Where at in the book, Perry?  I saw the #2 on 233 but no #3.   I was just curious because a couple people told me that the 3 in this series was harder to find.

Ui Tommy,

None of the smaller sizes of SIDNEY skillets (toy, 2, 3 or 4) is easy to find, as they were made for just a few years. In my opinion the No. 4 is the hardest to find. If you can find any of them for less than $50.00 consider yourself lucky, but expect to pay closer to 100.00 for most,

John

Hello Tommy. I am mistaken. It is the number two on 233. I thought from my memory that it was a number three. And John, thank you for speaking up about the availability of these pieces. Now that you have pointed it out I don't recall seeing many Sidneys in the smaller sizes, the larger sizes yes, but not the smaller. I'll have to keep my eyes open for the smaller sizes in them.

Well, I listed it on an auction page and it went from $15 to $45 in about 30 minutes.   Here's hoping it climbs a bit more by Thursday.   :)   thanks again everyone for the help and info.
