Pot, kettle, cauldron, what is this and ballpark value?
« on: July 01, 2016, 03:01:53 PM »

It is 7.5" deep and 9.625" across.  What would you pay for it?  What is approximate value in cleaned up and seasoned condition?  Can a manufacturer even be determined from the pics?  What are these called?  Thanks guys!!!!   ;D

Hello Tommy. Unless a piece like this is in excellent condition and can identified as to who made it, they are not worth much at all. In its present condition if you can get ten dollars for it I'd say take the money and run, fast.

Thank you sir.  I do not own it. I just saw it on Craigslist and was interested. What are these kinds of pots called?

 • I don't collect waffle irons; they just show up.

Simply a three-legged kettle.  If the inside is pitted and rusted, it might not even justify a $10 note.  And with these, the inside is quite often pitted and rusted.  Not to mention that if you get it through the internet, you'll have shipping for a large-ish and fragile-ish  item on top of the purchase price.

This is the sort of thing that gets turned into a planter for a Begonia...

(That said, I do own a few.  Kettles, not Begonias.)

Thank you very much.  As with the griswold no 9 griddle I posted on another thread, I'm gonna pass on it. Its an hour away and just not worth the price or drive.   Maybe next time.

You are very welcome Tommy. I'm glad you asked before you bought this piece. And an hour away to boot. So save your time and gas. You are pretty smart for asking ahead of time Tommy. I have been here several years. Many many times we have seen people come on here with a piece of junk and they want us to tell them how bad of a deal they got. We can help the sick but we can't raise the dead.
