BSR Skillet Price Check
« on: June 18, 2016, 12:53:47 PM »
I'm in the market for a couple BSR Red Mountain skillets. I have a beautiful #8 I paid $20 for (plus shipping) on ebay recently. I would like to get a larger one (a #10 or #12) for routine use. It doesn't need to be pristine, but it should be pretty nice, certainly good enough for routine cooking.

What prices would be considered high, low, and fair for BSR Red Mountain skillets #8, #10, and #12?

Are you looking for the Red Mountain with Wider Pour Spouts, or the Newer Red Mountain with the Narrower Pour spouts? :)

I am not familiar with all the variations, so I don't really know. I suppose I prefer the older skillets on the theory that they were probably made with more care than the newer ones, but if I am mistaken, please correct me. (At least, I can tell a marked difference in quality between my Red Mountain #8 and my Century #5.)

For reference I have attached pictures of my #8. It's really nice, and I would like something of comparable quality.

Jonathan, thanks for the pics!

Smaller pour spouts, with that typeface is indicative of transition between RM and Century dated pieces.(smaller pour spouts)

with that said, the pricing is ... well ... iffy..

I would look for a #12 piece in the $75 dollar range as #12 in any maker are desirable right now...

The #10 ... target $60 range(or less)... the market is fluctuating right now due to erroneous info (IMO) that older RM are rare... too early to tell if that is true or not.

Just one persons opinion! (who is actively researching BSR right now!)
 ;) ;)
