Wagner Ware Breakfast Skillet
« on: January 16, 2016, 11:44:55 PM »
This is my second post asking about value. Unless I run into a massive auction or flea market, you won't hear much from me asking about value.

I do have this piece my wife bought at a yard sale 10+ years ago for less than $5.00. We've never used it, just doesn't seem practical to me. Ok, I eat way too much bacon and 2 eggs are a starting point. Unless you were cooking for one elderly grandma and she wanted a slice of bacon and 1 egg, it would just take too long in this skillet.

With that being said, I don't see many like this at flea markets or at auction, so therefore it must be rare and valuable....right? Let me remove my tongue from my cheek and ask what value this might have. It doesn't get used, but looks cool as hell hanging from the pot rack.

As with all our cast iron, it's not for sale (unless I can trade for a 6 HP outboard).

Thanks, Ken

Hello Ken. Welcome to WAGS. I'm from Ohio also, originally from Ky. That Wagner breakfast skillet you have there is one of the earlier ones. The later ones had a thumb place on top of the handle, Wagner had that patented by the way. As for value, its cleaned up nice. For value I'd say around thirty dollars. There is also a trivet that goes on the bacon side that holds your bacon down as you fry it. And there is also a Wagner breakfast skillet this size that is plumb flat, no dividers, and there is a trivet that covers that whole part for your bacon also. Hope that helps some. If you got some really good pieces, we'll try to beat you out of them.  ::) ;D

Perry: If it's put on top of the bacon to hold it down, doesn't that make it a bacon press instead of a trivet?
Hold still rabbit, so I can cook you.

Hello C.B. Yes you are absolutely correct. BUT, it sure LOOKS like a trivet.  ;D

I have had 'trivet' on the brain since you asked about that one 'trivet'.  :)

hello, Ken.  have you heard anyone mention the "blue book" and the "red book"?  a wealth of knowledge in these.  a person can spend hours looking through these.  they are available usually on ebay.   well worth the money! ;)
